Arabica: (n.) the species of coffee that started it all.

As you know, coffee is a fruit and just like there are different species of oranges (navel, Valencia, etc.), there are different species of the coffee plant. Coffee arabica originated in Ethiopia and is thought to be the first species ever grown and cultivated intentionally by people. The two most well-known species of coffee are arabica and robusta. Robusta gets a bad rep, but it has more caffeine and high-quality robusta in a blend can really nail the full body and round, chocolate notes typical of an Italian-style espresso.
