As of this past week, we swapped out almond milk for the delicious, nutritious, and sustainable oatmilk. Not goat milk, not oatmeal. Oatmilk.

What is Oatmilk?
Oatmilk is a seriously delicious vegan milk made from gluten-free oats that are meticulously produced. From the milling process, to adding natural enzymes, to heat treatment, a lot goes into making the perfect plant-based alternative.

Why’d we switch?
Many people have grown to love their almond milk, which has made it a go-to plant-based milk alternative in many cafes across the country. However, almond milk is not nearly as environmentally friendly as oat-milk.

Oatmilk typically uses 85-90% less water than the water consumed to produce and peel almonds. In addition, oatmilk produces roughly 35% less greenhouse gas emissions than other dairy alternatives and about 80% less than cow’s milk.

Our milk-alternative soulmate.
We’re pumped to be working with Oatly, the original oat-milk company from Sweden. The company was started back in the 90s by a scientist who invented oatmilk out of a necessity for a dairy alternative. But it wasn’t until last year they created their Barista Edition, a game-changer for baristas and coffee enthusiasts like us. It steams and pours beautifully and it complements our coffee really well.

So next time you’re in the cafe, try out the oatmilk—you won’t be disappointed.

If you’d like to learn more about all the amazing reasons oatmilk is our new favorite, you can checkout oatly.com, maybe while you sip your next latte.

  1. Great idea except if it is coming from Sweden, how does that reduce greenhouse emissions? Unless they produce it in the U.S.? Love your coffee!
