The official press release for Saturday’s event:
“West Loop’s Solo Salon, in collaboration with Birds of a Feather Movement, will host a Prohibition to Cancer fundraiser inviting you to become Bonnie and Clyde for an evening with a 1920’s themed event in which all proceeds will benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital.
The roaring 20’s were full of highs and lows, as are the days of anyone battling cancer. The fight affects everyone and we all know someone who is fighting, won, or lost his or her battle as Frankie did. For the 3rd year, the BOF cancer benefit will be held in honor of Frankie Olvera, fulfilling his vision to motivate and help those affected by cancer. Frankie passed away on July 24th, 2010 after a five-year battle against a rare form of cancer called Mono Synovial Sarcoma. Never seeing his condition as a weakness, Frankie’s wish was to form the Birds of a Feather Movement to create support and awareness to those who are in need. His brother, Efren Olvera has worked tirelessly to make sure BOF Movement continues to grow and help others.”
