Yemen has been producing coffee for more than 1200 years, and is considered the first commercial coffee source. Their famous port city, Mokha, inspired the name given to the coffee varieties passing through it and many years later, the chocolate coffee drink. Yemen continues to produce distinctive, unique coffee and La Colombe is glad for the opportunity to support the country’s coffee farmers.
This Yemeni coffee is bought as ripe cherries from the farmer and naturally processed on raised beds. Learn more about the natural method of processing coffee here. Because the coffee is dried in its fruit, this Haraaz Red Marqaha takes on a coveted raspberry jam quality.
In addition to tasting our new Yemeni coffee, the cuppings will also give you a chance to try our other coffees side by side. By tasting different coffees in rapid succession, it’s much easier to pick out the distinctive flavors and figure out which one you like best! See below for locations.
