Friday’s Cupping Preview: The Brazil Blue Diamond

If you are fairly new to the coffee world, it’s hard to know where to get started on single-origin brews. Our biweekly cuppings are designed to guide you through our coffees, helping you pick out the distinct differences in each of them. For an easy intro to single-origin coffees, you’ll want to come try our Brazil Blue Diamond.

The Blue Diamond is a pulped-natural coffee, meaning that it was dried with some of the coffee cherry on the beans. This method of processing imparts an earthy sweetness that compliments the toasty nuttiness of the Blue Diamond. The beans are from the Catuai plant, a dwarf coffee variety that stands up well to Brazil’s heavy tropical winds and rains.

This coffee is a medium roast, but it has a flavor profile reminiscent of a darker roast. A longer development time helps accentuate natural sugars in the coffee to make it taste sweet and caramelized, so if you’re a Corsica fan and want to start trying out single-origins, Blue Diamond is for you. With a pleasing chocolate nuttiness, this Brazil is a classically good cup of coffee and a great standard against which to compare our other single-origin offerings.

Friday at 1pm, come try the Blue Diamond and other brews at our free public cuppings. You’ll also receive 20% off your in-cafe purchase!
