Dose: (n.) a quantity of your daily medicine, espresso.
When you want to make perfect coffee, you weigh everything down to the last gram. Dose is the weight of dry grounds you’re using to make espresso, and it changes based on how much you’re making. In our cafes, we program our grinders to dispense a certain dose at a certain grind size, then periodically weigh doses to make sure they’re consistent. Coffee is all about ratios, so if you’re dose increases, the amount of water and final yield of espresso should increase as well. Read more about the basics of espresso here.
