If you’re a cold brew lover, taking five minutes to make some coffee ice cubes is the easiest, most awesome gift you could give yourself. Your coffee won’t get watered down, you’ll finally have a use for the cold coffee left in the pot, and you can play around with all sorts of different flavors and add-ins.

It’s super simple – you just pour leftover coffee into an ice cube tray to freeze it, then add the cubes to your cold brew in the morning, or pour milk over them for an iced latte at home. If you brew using a drip machine, freeze what’s left in the pot for the next time you want to make iced coffee. Since cold brew is concentrated, it makes great coffee iced cubes, but hot-brewed coffee works too. If you’re using hot-brewed coffee, make sure to let it cool to room temperature before pouring in the tray and freezing.

Here’s where it gets fun: add stuff! Level 1: Make your own simple syrup and add it to the cubes for a sweeter cup. Level 2: Make simple syrup AND add a splash of lemon to the cubes. It’ll give a bright pop of citrus to your iced coffee – you’ll really be awake! Level 3: Sky’s the limit. Create your own flavor combos and add-in whatever sounds good! Drop a piece of fresh fruit, like blueberries or raspberries, into each cube for a tropical vibe – an escape in a glass.

Our favorite brew to freeze right now? Our Kenya Kiriti single-origin, with juicy red notes like rhubarb and Shiraz.

  1. Why don’t you guys offer ice coffee cubes in stores? I myself and I’m quite sure others love their coffee strong and not watered down with regular ice cubes.

    1. The baristas are very receptive to requests on drink orders. A simple “light ice” addition to your order should do the trick.

  2. It might be better to use one or two of the large ice cubes used for straight whiskey or scotch. They melt slower do to larger mass. You will probably have to devote the rubbery tray only to coffee cubes because the coffee might permanently leach into the tray.
