The Cappadocia region of Turkey is known for it’s ancient cultural history and surreal geographic features. One of the best ways to see the sprawling, Moon-like landscape is from above – in a hot air balloon, to be exact. On a regular basis, the air over Cappadocia’s fairy chimneys (the rock formations above) is filled with dozens of colorful balloons, making the already-trippy landscape look even trippier. This Friday Escape is far out, man, far out. Have a groovy weekend, folks.

Albuquerque NM has a beautiful and gigantic balloon festival every October. Spectacular mountains and topography as well.
