Today’s Friday Escape is closer than you would think. The old Reading Viaduct in Philadelphia is right in the city, but once you climb up onto the old rail line, you feel miles away. Up there, the noise of the cars melts away and plants are taking over the structures. There is graffiti everywhere, some of it bad, some of it good, and always changing. The area is not currently open to the public, but check out the efforts to turn the elevated rail line into a park.

Just watched the video posted here on the Rail Park project. I am looking forward to hearing more about it. We have enjoyed walking and throwing a ball and Frisbee at Penn Park by the university, which seems like it was a similar project. Thanks for sharing the info.
